About the dog
Dogs were one of the first animals that humans domesticated and developed a loving relationship with about 12,000 years ago. The combination of hunting instincts and emotional attachment has created a special relationship between dogs and humans. Since then, dogs have become an important part of human life and culture, with many different purposes such as hunting, guarding, agricultural work, and especially as pets and companions. The loyalty, loveliness and intelligence of dogs have made them an important part of our families and daily lives.
28 teeth
Dogs have 28 teeth when they are puppies. Including 12 incisors and 16 canines. However, as puppies grow older, the number of teeth may change due to the incisor eruption that usually occurs between 4-6 months of age. At that time, dogs can have between 42 and 44 teeth, depending on the breed and the structure of each individual tooth. This total includes incisors, canines, molars, and premolars, which help dogs process food and perform many other tasks in their daily lives.
Dogs have two noses
Dogs have one nose, like most other animals. However, they have a more complex and sensitive nasal structure than humans. Dogs have a very strong sense of smell, which helps them track scents, find food, and even rescue and hunting work. Dogs have an extremely complex sense of smell with millions of scent receptors in their noses, compared to the number in humans. Therefore, based on the complex structure of their noses and nervous systems, dogs have the ability to recognize and distinguish scents excellently. That is also why, when their owners are in danger, dogs will run to prevent it from happening.
Wet Nose
A dog’s nose is often wet and cold. This is not only due to licking, but also due to a number of other reasons:
Sebum production: Dogs’ noses produce a type of sebum to maintain moisture and help them clean the scent of their paws. This helps dogs track scents and connect with their surroundings.
Scent sensing task: A moist nose helps dogs sense scents better. Since areas such as the conjunctiva of the eye develop best in moist conditions, this enhances their ability to sense scents
Temperature regulation: A moist nose helps regulate the dog’s body temperature in hot weather. The evaporation of water from the nose can effectively reduce the dog’s body temperature.
